The Parenting PATH is a local non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent and treat child abuse in northwest North Carolina. This mission is accomplished through a variety of services aimed at strengthening families, enhancing parent-child relationships and increasing community awareness. Questions or referrals? The Parent Aide Program focuses on effective skills for healthy parenting. Our expertly trained Parent Aides strengthen the family unit, encouraging problem solving, bonding, and skill building within the family.
The Welcome Baby Program is a free service designed to help families located in Forsyth County! We provide support, child development information, home visitation, and community resources. For referrals and more information call 336-725-BABY (2229).
- Welcome Baby Warmline 24-hour telephone counseling for parents with questions and/or concerns about infant care. Postpartum services and referrals available. 336-725-BABY (2229)
- Home Visitation Educates and provides information pertaining to infant care, child development, and health concerns.
- Under 5 Club A monthly support and enrichment for group caregivers of children, newborn to age 5. Families participate in activities and receive parenting information.
Participants learn basic childcare skills, what it means to be a father, how to develop healthy relationships, how to improve physical and mental health and effective group discussions. Training and workshops to educate the public on child abuse. Wide range of subjects, including day care consultation, prevention programs to children, presentations on identification and intervention, as well as program development consultation.
Parent/Teen Solutions is a program offered to improve parent and teen relationships by opening lines of communication for families with children between the ages of 12 and 17. This program includes in-home visitation and group sessions to discuss subjects related to parent/teen relationships.
Visitation occurs in our beautiful nursery, providing an environment with a variety of toys and games that allow for positive parent/child interaction. In addition, all visitors will have access to our playground which features a slide, swing set, and jungle gym.
Respite Care Program
Crisis or planned placement of children with collaborating agencies to reduce the potential for abuse and neglect. Parents or agencies can call 24 hours/7 days per week. Free. Transportation available. Available for Forsyth county residents only.
Intensive Family Preservation Services (IFPS)
Intensive home visitation for families to prevent out of home placement of children. Services include: family assessment, intensive family and individual counseling, client advocacy, case management, development and enhancement of parenting skills, and referral to other services as appropriate. Offered in Davie, Forsyth, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Yadkin,Davidson, Iredell, and Rowan counties.
Positive Effective Parenting. "PEP Classes" are a free 12 week parenting program promoting empathy, discipline with dignity, self-worth and empowerment. Topics include Ages and Stages of Growth, Alternatives to Spanking, Developing Family Values/Rules & Positive ways to Deal with Stress. Referrals by court order, professionals, or families. Systematic Treatment After Sexual Abuse for Families (STA SAFE)
Family intervention for sexual abuse including victims, siblings, and parent/partners. Risk assessment for abuse-reactive children, up to 18 years of age and offenders both male and female. Both individual and group treatment is available. Call 336-748-9028.
