Parent Coaching

Helping families manage the challenges of parenting with a strength-based approach

Parents will work one-on-one with a trained coach to create and implement a plan for the family. Parent Coaching is available to all parents and caregivers.

The goals and objectives of these 1-2 hours weekly interventions are to:

 

  • Educate parents on child development milestones
  • Assist parents with coping skills
  • Provide parents with strategies on how to handle misbehaviors
  • Mentor parents on how to develop good relationships with their children

How do I register for the Parent Coaching Program?

Parents/Caregivers interested in the Parent Coaching program will need to contact The Parenting PATH to enroll.

Is there a fee for Parent Coaching?

The Parenting PATH charges for some of its services. This information is discussed with the family when services are accepted.

Do I have to be court-ordered to participate in Parent Coaching?

Parents/caregivers may be court-ordered to participate in Parent Coaching or they may participate on a voluntary basis.

Where is Parent Coaching available?

Parent Coaching is primarily available for Forsyth and Stokes County.

What is the typical length of each session?

The length of sessions may vary depending on whether or not there is a court order in place, however, most sessions are between 1 – 1 ½ hours. The average number of sessions is 6.

Where are sessions held?

Parent Coaching sessions are at The Parenting PATH Winston Salem location and in community settings around Forsyth and Stokes counties.

Will the Parent Coach/Therapist customize the program to my needs?

Parent Coaching sessions are customized to meet the needs of the family. An individualized assessment and/or consultation is conducted with each parent to help identify their parenting needs.

When are sessions provided?

Sessions are provided at a variety of times. Please contact The Parenting PATH to discuss schedules.

What if I miss a session?

A parent may make-up a session although missed sessions are discouraged. If Parent Coaching is court-ordered this information will be shared with the referring party. (Appropriate consent will be required.)

Do I receive a Certificate of Completion?

Certificates are provided for self-referred parents/caregivers only.
