What We Do

Substance Use Navigator Services

Supporting parents and children through substance use rehabilitation and family reunification

Using a strengths-based approach and evidence-based practices to assist parents with children in foster care, involved with Child Protective Services, and/or participating in Child Protective In-Home Services due to the impact of substance use.

This goal-oriented service helps parents work towards reunification by:

  • Appropriate referral of substance using parents to treatment services
  • Assisting parents with enrollment and continued involvement in treatment
  • Decreasing barriers to reunification through decreased substance use

Working in partnership with the Forsyth County Department of Social Services (FCDSS) Family and Children's Division, Substance Use Navigator services include:

  • Case management for mental health and substance use service needs
  • Connecting parents to community support resources
  • On-going, in-home, substance use outreach, education, and emotional support
  • Monitoring progress of families who enter substance use treatment/drug court and working collaboratively with all agencies involved

Referrals for this program must be made directly through Forsyth County Department of Social Services (FCDSS) Family and Children's Division.
